HIV Bands
May 10, 2009

I tested HIV+ in Oct. 2007 and in April 2009 had a random syphilis test-on that test it came back HIV+ which I already knew however it read "POSTIVE Bands: 160,120,65,55/51,41,40+/-,31,24".

I have been on treatment since Jan 2008 and never missed a dose.CD 4 is 656 and Vl not detectable. I have never seen that band information should I be worried about treatment failure? Or is it simply saying yes I am HIV 1+?

thanks

Those bands are detecting antibodies to HIV infection. I would not be concerned with these results. The western blot test is used to confirm HIV infection and not monitor a person once they are infected and in treatment.
