|Exposed to TB and HIV
Dec 22, 2001
When a person is said to be exposed to TB, does the person need to have HIV test? and what if the person has some risk factor?
Response from Dr. Feinberg
Everyone with TB should be tested for HIV, regardless of any other risks for HIV, and vice versa. This is because the 2 epidemics tend to 'run together', so that the chances of having HIV if you have TB, and the chances of having TB if you have HIV, are increased.
