| Exposed to TB and HIV Dec 22, 2001 When a person is said to be exposed to TB, does the person need to have HIV test? and what if the person has some risk factor? Thank you |

Response from Dr. Feinberg
Everyone with TB should be tested for HIV, regardless of any other risks for HIV, and vice versa. This is because the 2 epidemics tend to 'run together', so that the chances of having HIV if you have TB, and the chances of having TB if you have HIV, are increased. |
