bell's palsey and HIV
Oct 23, 2001

My father (70 years old) was recemtly diagnosed with bells palsey> He has also been HIV positive for over Ten years. Is the bell's an opportunistic virus related to his weakened immune sysytem? he has the normal facial paralysis as well as blistering and blotchiness on the right side of his face

Response from Dr. Feinberg

Bell's palsy isn't limited to people with HIV; it can happen to people with normal immune systems also, and isn't considered a typical opportuniistic infection.
