Were My Tests Good Enough? Sep 19, 2001 I was married to a gay man who was cheating. 2 months after we split, I was tested for HIV at my doctor's office. It came out negative. Approx 5-6, months later I was tested by a life insurance company. I specifically asked if they tested for HIV and was told yes. I came back a preferred customer which indicated I tested negative. Now I think my ex-husbands partner has hiv/aids. It has been over 3 years since we split. Were my tests enough to feel confident of a negative result? |

Response from Dr. Feinberg
To be tested for HIV you need to give written permission. If this didn't occur when you had bloodwork for an insurance policy, I suggest you get tested again now. It sounds like you'll feel better if you know for sure. |
