Exposure to blood
Sep 13, 2001

I arived at a house of a female co worker to find her feet cut with glass and bleeding badly. I helped wash away the blood and bandage her wounds and my hands were covered with blood. I have a habit of biting nails and flesh on the tips of my fingers. Could i have been infected through this exposure ? the status of this co worker is unknown.

Response from Dr. Feinberg

It is possible to become infected with blood-borne germs, including HIV, in the manner you describe. The only way to know for sure is to get tested.
