|?Rash Due to HIV Infection
Jul 26, 2001
Dr Feinberg, I have a skin condition( discolaration - african american) which started 4 months after possible infection date. Do skin disorders usually start that early after infection? I have this condition for 1 1/2 years now and 2 dermatologist haven't been able to tell me what type of skin disorder/rash I have after 2 biopsies. Thanx,
Response from Dr. Feinberg
Rash due to recent HIV infection does not appear 4 months later. If 2 practicing dermatologists cannot tell you what you have, then I recommend that you see a dermatologist at a university medical center if possible. If not, then ask your doctor(s) to send the biopsy slide(s) to an expert for interpretation.
