DOGS AND HIV INFECTED INDIVIDUAL
Mar 1, 2000

MY BROTHER WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HIV JUST ONE MONTH AGO. HE IS CURRENTLY IN THE HOSPITAL AND HAS FULL BLOWN AIDS. HIS CD4 COUNT IS 88. I KNOW THIS IS EXTREMELY LOW. HE WILL BE COMING HOME IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. AT HOME WE HAVE TWO DOGS AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANY TYPE OF RISK INVOLVED FOR OPPORTUNISTIC INFECTIONS FROM DOGS.

Response from Dr. Feinberg

No, and dogs are a comfort, besides.
