Response from Dr. Feinberg
To cure an abscess the standard approach is to drain the pus because antibiotics do not penetrate into abscesses well, as well as to give antibiotics to clear up any residual infection. Some abscesses drain by themselves by bursting open; others require a sterile cut to be made by a doctor in order to drain. |
