| Hot Flashes Mar 28, 2000 Chatting with two HIV-positive friends recently (both CD4 around 350-500, VL quite low, neither taking ARVs), both mentioned occasionally experiencing 'hot flashes'. These apparently last perhaps a couple of minutes, with sudden sweating, and feeling flushed. We have not seen this symptom referred to anywhere. Is it common? Does it mean anything? Thanks |

Response from Dr. Feinberg
You haven't given me many clues to go on -- if you and your friends are women in their late 30s-40s, these may be early symptoms of menopause. If you and your friends are men, then quite truthfully I have no idea what these "hot flashes" are. They are not common at all in my experience, and I'm not sure it signifies anything worth worrying about. |
