Jun 19, 2000

HI,

I WANTED TO ASK YOU A QUESTION THAT I HAVE ASKED BEFORE BUT I NEVER GOT AN ANSWER. I GET PINKISH-REDDISH BLOTCHES ON MY ARMS AND FOREARMS ABOUT 4-5 TIMES A YEAR- THEY ARE NOT RAISED AND THEY ARE SOMETIMES SORE A LITTLE. ALSO THERE NOT OPEN- THEY JUST SEEM TO BE THERE FOR LIKE 3-5 DAYS THEN DISSAPEAR- THERE NOT BRUISES BECAUSE LIKE I SAID SOMETIMES THEY HURT AND SOMETIMES THEY DONT. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS. I AM NOT HIV POSITIVE BUT I AM HPV POSITIVE 5 YEARS. RECENTLY I HAD A COMPLETE PHYSICAL AND I WAS HIV NEGATIVE- THE ONLY OTHER SYMPTOMS I GET IS YEAST INFECTIONS ABOUT 3X A YEAR AND ALSO I RECENTLY GOT A FUNGAL INFECTION AFTER TAKING CORTICOSTEROIDS FOR GLOSSITIS. NOW I HAVE FUNGAL GLOSSITS AND TAKING MYCOLEX TROCHES WHICH DONT SEEM TO BE WORKING- THE YEAST INFECTION IS NOT SEVERE IT IS VERY MILD I WAS TOLD BY MY DOCTOR- THANK GOD. I DONT KNOW WHATS GOING ON WITH MY SKIN OR THIS FUNGAL INFECTION I AM VERY WORRIED. WOULD YOU PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR INPUT ABOUT THIS- LAST POSSIBLE EXPOSURE 1997-

Response from Dr. Feinberg

Your skin problem is not KS, but I can't be sure of what it is from your description. Please see a dermatologist for a definitive diagnosis.
