tattos and ody piercing is this a risk?.
Jul 1, 2001

DEAR DOCTOR, i recently heard that tattoing and body piercing can lead to aids, since the same instument are used on all kinds of poeple.what i mean is..if a person gets a tatto done in a shop and is an aids infected person and the next person who wants to get a tatto done from that same shop is not infected yet are there any chances of the second person getting the disease.since it was the same instrument.and if it was not cleaned thorughly. thankyou

Response from Dr. Feinberg

Businesses that do tattooing and body piercing should be sterilizing their needle and other instruments after every use. If you are not confident that these standard health protection policies are being followed, then don't patronize the business in question.
