I have noticed a purplish area on the roof of my mouth and several brown looking mole like growths on my trunk lately. I have seen the pictures of Kaposi's Sarcoma and they look very similar. I have tested negative repeatedly and was wondering if KS is possible in someone without AIDS.
Response from Dr. Feinberg
KS can occur in HIV- people, but is quite unusual except in elderly men from the Mediterranean region. It is not brown or mole-like, but is usually purplish. See an oral surgeon who can do a biopsy if the problem persists.
