Maximum time of the HIV antibody production? Apr 18, 2001 Hi doctor, I m medical student. My medical Prof. said to us in my infection lesson about HIV antibody production 2 weeks to 2 years. Is it true? Is there any report about antibody after 6 months? I think 2 years very long time and impossible. my second Question : same Prof. said some people body Didn't produce HIV antibody? thank u |

 I agree with you-- two years is too long. Seroconversion usually occurs within 6 months, and that's an outer limit; most people seroconvert within 3 months. Although the antibodies do not appear to be very protective against HIV, infected people do have a positive antibody test (ELISA). |
