Response from Dr. Feinberg
I know of no data that support the utility of hyperbaric oxygen in the management of cocci meningitis. This is a tough disease to treat under the best of circumstances, and when I was practicing out West the routine approach was to augment systemic amphotericin B with intrathecal amphotericin, administered via basilar cisternal LP or a high lateral approach by a neuroradiologist under fluoroscopy. |
