effect of Echinacea on HIV test
Feb 24, 2001

Dr. Feinberg--

I value your information so here is my question. I take echinacea maybe two or three times a week and I was wondering if this would effect my negative ELISAs at 2,4,6,7, and 9 months? If so, should I take another test and what kind? Thanks.

Response from Dr. Feinberg

I am not aware of any data that indicate that Echinacea will interfere with the HIV blood test. I wouldn't worry about it.
