CMV IgG 2.97
Mar 18, 2002

I was tested positive for CMV IgG with a measurement of 2.97.I'm a diabetic & I also just got over MONO. My spleen is also enlarged to 12.3cm. I'm confused about what this means. Does this mean I have AIDS? Will this disease cause DEATH? My Doctor says that this CMV will not cause longterm disbility. But after research on the Net I'm confused. Please Help ME!

Response from Dr. Feinberg

Many HIV- people get mono and CMV, and this does not mean that they are getting HIV, too. HIV+ people are at risk from serious disease from CMV in the advanced stage of HIV disease, but this is not the situation you are in.
