Would HIV ensefalites show up on a MRI
Mar 10, 2002

I have been told I may have HIV ensefalites due to forgetfull memory and quite a cognative loss, I have recentley had MRI of the brain for while checking for some nerve damage, and they told me brain MRI was normal, would HIV ensefalites or alshimers or HIV demenshia show up on a MRI ?

Response from Dr. Feinberg

HIV encephalopathy (dementia) and other neurological problems should show up on an MRI scan. I suppose there is a point where the disease process is too early to be clearly seen on the MRI-- but this is usually a very sensitive test.

Tonsil Blisters
Recurrent Sinusitis = HIV?
