		Response from Dr. Feinberg It depends on what kind of HPV-related problem you are talking about. HPV itself is not an opportunistic infection-- it is an STD that can happen to anyone, HIV- or HIV+, and mostly manifests itself as anogenital warts. While it is also true that the worst long-term outcomes of HPV, anorectal and cervical cancer, can also happen to people that are HIV-, they are more likely to occur in HIV+ individuals who have advanced HIV disease (HIV infection for 8-10 years or more).
