NeuroAIDS
Mar 16, 2000
I have been diagnosed with "HIV encephalopathy" since Nov.99. On Combivir & Viracept and do not feel that I am improving in any way, rather now have visual field deficits, and an unbelievable lack of energy. any suggestions?
I am also interested in knowing if CSF tests are being done on the "structured treatment" patients. I can't help but think that although I had undetectable viral load & 800 t's that the HIV was raging in my CSF. I hope that someone checks this out before we all end up with brain problems.
Thanks for a great forum

Response from Dr. Feinberg

You need to be seen by an ophthalmologist experienced in treating HIV+s AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. You also probably need an MRI scan of the brain, but get to that eye doctor first. Don't wait. Let me know what happens. Good luck.
