KS?
Oct 16, 2001

Can KS spots fade? I have spots on my hipline that I am unsure what they are. They are brown and have grown in number over the last year. They rage from 1mm to about 2cm and are light brown (my skin is olive-colored). They are not raised nor do they itch--although sometimes they become dry. They are not perfectly round/oval but I see no signs of distinct assymetry nor can I see a color gradient. Incidentally, they have quit appearing and lightened in the past 3 months since I have quit smoking. I see no other spots of concern; however, there may be one new spot on my right side just below my ribcage...miniscule so far (but that's how the others started!)

   Response from Dr. Feinberg

In dark-skinned people, the lesions can look more brownish than purplish, but KS lesions rarely fade (regress) wihtout specific treatment for KS or for the underlying immune deficiency.
