p24 antigen
Oct 7, 2001
Dear Doctor,
I gave blood through the Red Cross. I was told I had a reaction to the p24 antigen test.(A low reaction). However, my elisa and western blot were negative. I had another elisa, western blot and a RNA PCR done at 6 weeks after I gave blood at the Red Cross - all non-detectable. I had another elisa, western blot and RNA PCR at 3 months again all non-dectectable. I tested again on the elisa at 6 months and 10 months both non detectible... Is this sufficent testing? My life has become consumed by this thanks so much

Response from Dr. Feinberg

The faint p24 reaction was a false positive. Your multiple negative ELISAs, Western blots and PCRs all indicate that you are HIV-. Relax!
