Rigors and Fever
Oct 30, 2001

Why am I having frequent rigors, shivers and fever during the night. The rigors had cut short a lot of my sleep, making me very tired. In the morning there will be body aches, like the whole body is being torn apart. Have not checked done my CD count, positive for 9 years

   Response from Dr. Feinberg

Please please please see a physician kknowledgeable about HIV disease as soon as possible. Your CD4 cell count could be below 200 or even below 100, making you vulnerable to a number of opportunistic infections (OIs) that can manifest as fever and night sweats. You need to find out what is going on so you can get adequate treatment, which is available for almost all OIs. Please do not procrastinate, and good luck!
