|HEPB-WHAT ARE THE SIDE AFFECTS
Dec 4, 2001
I HAD GIVEN BLOOD, AND RECEIVED A LETTER SAYING THAT MY BLOOD HAD TESTED POSITIVE TO HEP B, HOWEVER THEY TESTED IT A SECOND TIME AND IT WAS NEGATIVE. SHOULD I BE CONCERNED??
| Response from Dr. Fried
Hepatitis B can occur with typical symptoms of hepatitis-feeling bad, fatigue, jaundice- or it can have no symptoms, particularly if it becomes a chronic infection. Since hepatitis B is a sexually transmitted disease, virtually everyone is at risk if they have not received the hepatitis B vaccine. Hepatitis B can be easily diagnosed by simple blood tests. Bring the letter to your doctor so he/she can decide what other tests are needed, if any.
