Does acute hepatitis cause a change of color in ones urine? What could the color change be? If so does this change only occur with acute infection or could it occur with a chronic infection also?
Response from Dr. Dieterich
Any form of hepatitis that causes jaundice will cause the urine to change to cola colored. That is very non specific and urine can be dark if you are dehydrated as well, but not usually brownish in color. Blood tests are much more accurate. DTD
