Level of hep c Nov 13, 2001 Hi Doctors. Thank you for this board. I have just learned over the phone tha I have Hep my levels are high, 891 thousand ? I not sure what that means? I did ask the nurse and she said they should be under 600 thousand. She did say my liver was functioning OK. But my husband & children should get a Hep c test. Please what do the levels mean? Thank you one worried Mommma I have asked you already about my kids (16 & 13 & Husband ) You responded they would OK. |

 Dear Momma, The HCV RNA levels don't really mean anything except in repsonse to treatment. Any virus at all means you are infected and you should be evaluated for treatment. That usually means an ultrasound a genotype and a liver biopsy. Generally if there is fibrosis(scarring on the biopsy then treatment is indicated. Make sure your MD follows through on this and ask him or her about a biopsy! DTD | ||||||||
