Hep C viral RNa
Oct 24, 2001

I have >1000000HCOPIES?ML and HCV,RNA,PCR,Quant is>600000 andALT is 60H .I have not been offered any type of treatment. Why are they waiting

Response from Dr. Rodriguez-Torres

I don't know. The levels of the alt and HCV PCR, does not correlate with the severity of the disease, and are not used to decide upon treatment. You need to have a liver biopsy to see the activity of the hepatitis, and the status of the liver, and if treatment is indicated now,or if you can wait.Discuss this with your doctor.
