Response from Dr. Rodriguez-Torres
Pegasys is still waiting for FDA aproval. The reason for the delay is not any concern about the effectiveness or the safety of the drug ,but issues regarding the production of the drug .FDA also regulates all the steps in production, and the company that produces the drug (Roche),had to make many changes to increase production for the expected demand this drug will have. The studies reported,so far, show that the drug is better tolerated than Rebetron, and that is the most effective for Genotype 1,cirrhotics,naive and non responders. The good news is that the drug is expected to be aproved in the first trimester of next year. | |||||||||
