I am a dentist.... and while working overseas, I was cutting a prosthesis with burs... there was blood in the prosthesis... as I was doing it, the bur trapped my glove and tangled up... I DONT KNOW IF IT CUT ME, there was no blood or cuts visible in my finger... it ripped the glove, but when i took it off to clean, i washed my hands with water and soap.. used alcohol to detect if thee was any cut.. NO stinging sensation with alcohol... I put my mind at ease at that point.... as there was no visual cut, and it did not hurt after alcohol.. Patient was HCV positive, and HIV status unknown... at 4 weeks, I developed non productive coughing only at night, which has lasted 4 weeks or more, with clear mucous if I blow my nose... I AM PANICKING NOW!... I also get pain in my thorax area, sore throat... NO FEVER... I thought it might be GERD, but of course my mind throws me back to that incident in january.... :( I am desperate thinking that i could have had a minuscule exposure and not see it or feel it.....

Response from Dr. Taylor
