Response from Dr. Taylor

You were exposed to hepatitis B and cleared away the infection on your own. You do not have hepatitis B.

There is conflicting opinion about whether vaccination again hepatitis B is now essential. If you can get the vaccine, it is fine to receive. If you cannot, many experts think people with prior exposure have memory in their immune systems of the old infection, and could fight off any new exposure, so you are safe without it.
