hello doctor, in continues i just want to ask you: for being exposed to hepatitis B in the past and have cleared the hepatitis B infection, how shuold my result can be? 1. HBsAg=positive (i know!) 2. Hep B Surface AB QL(antiHBs)=? 3. Hep B Core AB Total=? thank you and looking forward your reply
Response from Dr. Taylor
In a person who has been exposed to hepatitis B and has cleared the infection, the common blood test results for the tests you mention include: 1. HBsAg= NEGATIVE or non-reative. If the result is positive, a person HAS hepatitis B, has NOT cleared the infection, and should be evaluated by a physician ideally. 2. Hep B Surface AB QL= detectable (positive) or not, can be either. 3. Hep B Core AB Total= positive.
