 These results suggest chronic hepatitis B infection. The next steps ideally, would be to have your hepatitis B viral load (HBV DNA) checked along with your ALT (blood marker of liver injury). It would also be helpful to have an HIV test. Based on these results, it will be helpful to talk with your doctor about whether hepatitis B medications are right for you, and to learn about how to reduce the risk of spreading hepatitis B to others. If you smoke or use alcohol, talk with your doctor about ways to cut down or ideally, to quit, as these drugs impact your liver health. | ||||||||
