Do I have Hepatitis B
Sep 23, 2012
I received the results from a company medical and the covering letter told me that the bloods and all were okay. When I read the results I was alarmed to see that in bold writing for Hepatitis A the antibody range reading was 60 when it should be less than 20 and stated "indicates immunity" while the HEP B antibody reading was 212.5 and Positive with a clinical comment of "Positive immune status", can you explain to me if I have a Hepatitis infection or not and what to do next ?
Response from Dr. McGovern
I suspect you may have been vaccinated for hepatitis A and B in the past and that is why the tests are indicating "immunity". However, you should show the laboratories to your doctor for interpretation since immunity can also mean past exposure. Either way, you should not be worrying about liver disease....
