| hepatitis B core antibody positive with waning titres of hepatitis Surface antibody (<9) Jun 18, 2012 please advice as to what it means : My hep b results are: HBs Ag - negative HB core antibody - positive HB surface antibody < 9 I was vaccinated for hep b in 2004 and titres in 2005 for hep b surface Ab was >100. I am asymptomatic. They are now testing for HBV DNA (results not yet available). kindly advice please |

If you had isolated hepatitis B core antibody in the past, then it makes sense that they wanted to vaccinate you to protect you from infection. It did work because your antibody titers were high (>100). Now they are low (<9) so you will need a booster. I suspect you won't have any virus in your blood (eg, HBV DNA). I just think you need another booster shot...No worries | |||||||||
