Hepatitis B results
Aug 21, 2011
I am starting a job in a hospital and got tested for Hep. B. My results read: HEP B SURFACE AB/IMMUNITY HB SURFACE AB NEGATIVE
HEPATITIS A IMMUNITY REACTIVE (WENT TO CULINARY SCHOOL AND GOT VACINATED) HEP B CORE ANTIBODY (HBCAB) HB CORE (TOTAL) NON REACTIVE NON REACTIVE
They are vacinating me for Hep. B a three series. So my concern is these results are confusing do I have Hep. B or was I a carrier at one time and do they still vacinate if you didn't have enough anitbodies. I know I am not wording this correctly. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Response from Dr. McGovern
You are not protected against hepatitis B because your surface antibodies are not detectable.
You have never been exposed and you certainly want to be protected against exposure in the future.
