Hep c and cutting hand
Jun 30, 2011
I was cleaning my kitchen sink today at home and i have a metal plug that i accidentally cut my hand on. The cut was rather deep and bled. I dont think anyone else would have cut there hands on the plug before me, but the reason I am concerned is that this sink is used by all family members to wash their hands. I am not concerned that any of my family members have cut their hands on the plug or in fact cut them on something else and then washed them in the sink recently. In fact I am certain that no family members have had cuts or washed fresh blood away down the sink recently...what I am worried about is hypothetically, what if they touched dried blood whilst out and about and then washed their hands and perhaps there were remnents of the dried blood on the plug which I cut my hand on? Is this an exposure for hep c transmission? There was blood flowing out of my cut and I washed the cut for a few minutes under running water. I am just a bit concerned. Thanks

I would not be concerned and I do not recommend testing.
