I was recently had a routine blood check-up for Hep A,B,C and HIV- antibodies. Everything was fine (Negative) except for Hep C which came back as Equivocal.

Before the test (Present day), my last sexual ecounter would have been 6-7 months ago. Also, I can think of no situations where I would have come close to having direct contact with someone who may had possibly been infected. I live a clean, drug- free lifestyle and I am quite confused by this result. As stated above, my last sexual encounter was probably just about 7 months prior to the testing and it was protected sexual contact, before this (Years), I had engaged in un-protected sex but very few times (Was a few years younger, made the mistake).

I am going in for a secondary test very soon as recommended.

With your expert knowledge on this topic/ condition, should I be concerned? Is the Equivocal result really just a "I'm not sure" or does it lean towards positive result? The only possibility for infection would had been from 7 months prior.

With your history, I would not be concerned.

I would do a RIBA as a confirmatory test. This will settle the issue once and for all. I strongly suspect it will be negative.
