| Definition of non-intact skin Mar 28, 2011 You get a lot of these questions I know. What exactly is th dfinition of non-intact skin? I recently touched a Hep C patients' skin and noticed a spot of blood on my hand from a scab that must have recently opened up. I washed and went to occ health. The skin on my hands are intact, except I noticed on inspection (obviously I went over my hands with a microscope after the exposure) a small, all-but healed paper cut on my finger. Does this count as non-intact? Sorry to be a pest. It keeps me up at night. |

Response from Dr. McGovern
If concerned about non intact skin as a breach in the barrier against HCV infection, I would be worried about a cut that is bleeding which got blood from a HCV positive person on top on the cut while it was bleeding. Like in a fight.... | |||||||||
