| Liver Ultrasound and ALT normal always ! Dec 22, 2010 Dear Dr., Few days ago I went to hospital to check liver and LFT, and both are normal (though some fat in liver). 15 months before HBVDNA was 3800. I have always normal ultrasound and LFT since I was diagnosed in 2006. Should I concern this time to see HBV DNA or I don't need to worry this time? Here is no service to count HBV DNA and I have to another place for that which is very expensive. Hope to get your response. |

Response from Dr. McGovern
HBV can reactivate from being "quiet" so it is possible to have HBV DNA one time and not to have detectable virus another time. You will need further follow-up of your LFTs to be certain they stay normal. In the meantime, you should ask your doctor why you have fatty liver. Perhaps you have high lipids (cholesterol triglycerides) or insulin resistance, or obesity??? | |||||||||
