| Hep V vaccinated, + antibody/- core, then + core 2 yrs later?? Oct 13, 2010 Dear Dr. McGovern, I would appreciate your input to this confusing situation. I had a 3-vaccine HepB series years ago (health care worker), followed by a + antibody, negative core, negative antigen result. Very good, vaccine was successful. I recently was tested again and told my core antibody was + and surface antibody was + indicating prior infection. How can the core antibody become + in cases of prior surface antibodies? Partner is negative, no occupational exposure, no symptoms. Could this be a false positive? What tests do you suggest to sort this out? |
