What is next after seroconvertion of hepa b ? Is it immunity the patient will become hbsag negative?
Response from Dr. McGovern
Treament-induced seroconversion of active E antigen positive HBV infection means loss of E antigen and gain of E antibody.
This is a very important event in HBV treatment...Medications are usually continued for one year after seroconversion...Then treatment is discontinued in the hopes that the infection will remain quiet.
Loss of surface antigen is much less likely....In the minority of patients in whom this occurs, disease usually stays inactive....This is the best response of all, but seen in only a few percentage of people.
low platlets and high blood pressure
