From the time the virus is contracted, how long does it take for Hepitits C to show up on a blood test?
Loved one was just diagnosed with HCV, he has been in & out of the hospital/ nursing/Rehab facilities, since the end of April. Had two major surgery's 2 days in a row, with complete total blood transfusions, both times. On Dialysis 3 X's per week now for the rest of his life, which unfortunitly, is not for very much longer. We are trying to figure out which facility he contracted the virus from, so they can be contacted. He has had his bloods done a lot, which you could imagine, so that's why I am asking about how long it takes to show up after being infected?
Thanks, PSL, Fl

If he was HCV negative in the past and now has new HCV infection, you can discuss this with the infection control department of the facilities to express your concerns. They will determine if an investigation should be done.
