 The most important issue for your father is to see a good liver specialist in your area. He will be evaluated for treatment. He will also undergo endoscopy to be certain that he does not have any varices (big blood vessels in the esophagus). If he does have varices, he will get some medication to help that as well. The good news is that a lot of new medications are in the wings for 2011 so treatment of HCV will continue to progress in the next few years with more and more persons getting cured of their HCV infection. | ||||||||
