| Fatty liver and HBV ! Jul 7, 2010 I am HBV infected, the HBV DNA was 4,000 ul in 2009 August. During this almost one year I checked liver function tests twice which are normal. But recently in my ultrasound doctor told me that i have little fat in my liver though I am not obesity. Is there any relations between these two problems, how should I concern. Does the normal liver function test indicate my liver is healthy? I am planning to go to doctor in next October and have a HBV DNA test. |

Response from Dr. McGovern
The normal LFTs are reassuring regarding your HBV infection. This surely needs ongoing follow-up. HBV is not closely associated with fatty liver although HCV is. I would ask your physician about other risk factors such as high cholesterol, triglycerides, and insulin resistance/diabetes. | |||||||||
