HIV+HEPATITIS B AND CIRRHOSIS

HELLO MY SPOUSE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE ABOVE DISEASES HIV ABOUT 20 YRS AGO HE GOT DIAGNOSED WITH HEPATITIS B ABOUT A YEAR AGO THAT HEPATITIS B GIVES U CIRRHOSIS OF THE LIVER? HE HAD BIOPSY OF THE LIVER

Your husband is a candidate for HIV treatment even if he has not been treated in the past.

Some HIV medications have dual action against HIV and HBV. Atripla is a good example. It contains two medications, emtricitabine and tenofovir - which have activity againt HIV and HBV along with efavirenz which is active against HIV alone.

Control of the virus is important in improving liver health.
