| Hepatitis C occupational exposure May 12, 2010 Thank you for your initial response. I have a follow up question. Originally after the spit in eye from HCV patient. I had a HIV test due to patient history and HCV antibody test. My HIV was non reactive and HCV antibody test was non reactive. I had qualatative HCV RNA at 4 weeks which was undetected. I just had a 3 month post exposure test for HIV and HCV. HIV was non reactive and HCV antibody was non reactive. My employer said they would repeat a 6 month test for HIV and HCV antibody if I wanted too. They said it was up to me. Do I need any further testing for HIV or HCV? Thank you in advance for your response. |

Response from Dr. McGovern
As they said, it is up to you. Personally, I would stop now because I would be comfortable with 3 months of testing since the risk in the first place was so low.... | |||||||||
