| Accidental needle stick May 12, 2010 Hello! My friend had an accident a few days ago. She dropped her phone on the ground, she went to pick it up without looking down, and when she held it she felt pain in her finger, there was a needle near the phone so she got needle stick it didn't bleed even under pressure but upper skin layer was removed and there is a red mark on that place even after the day. Is she at risk of HIV or HVC transmission? we don't know how much time that needle was laying on the ground but i think there were at least a few minutes because it was early morning and there were not a lot of people in the street. Thank you in advance! |

Response from Dr. McGovern
It would be reasonable for her to see her doctor for further counseling, advice and testing to be on the safe side. | |||||||||
