| Please Answer! Window Period for anti-HCV test Feb 20, 2010 Exactly 178 days after a risky exposure (sexual encounter with female possible IV user) I took a full STD panel (including an anti-HCV test). All results were negative. Is 178 days good enough for the 6 month window period? Some places say it takes 24 weeks to detect antibodies for HCV, others 6 months (which isn't exactly 24 weeks). Who should I believe? Please let me know if I can trust my results! |

Response from Dr. McGovern
The majority of patients who acquire HCV actually have antibodies by 12 weeks so you should feel comfortable that your results are final. | |||||||||
