HepA Vax/Pnuemonia Vax Nov 14, 2009 I finished my HepC treatment of interferon..... and am about to take the 3 mo. heptimax test. Should I start my HepA vax so soon or wait? Also, since I'm HIV+, one Dr. said I should get the pnuemonia Vax.... but he said he didn't know if I should get the HepA vax at the same time. Have you ever run into this??? Thank you Dr. M.! |

 Congrats on finishing your HCV treatment - I hope you get a great result! There is no problem about getting your hepatitis A vaccine now. Peg interferon is long gone from your body...and yes you can get both vaccines at the same time. I am very pleased to know that your doctors are thinking about all these preventive measures which sometimes are forgotten....All HIV infected and viral hepatitis-infected patients should ask their doctors about whether they need any immunizations to prevent infection - including flu shots. | ||||||||
