Odd HEB-B Test Results
Nov 3, 2009

Hello Dr, I had an acute infection of HEB-B in Jan 2006. my doctor then reported I cleared the infection, had the antibodies and did not need to worry about chronic HEB-B. However he just re-ran the test and the following showed up. (I also had the vaccination 2 years before I got acute HEB-B and apparently never developed anti-bodies from the vaccination either) Wondering if you could shed some light as I am very confused. 1. 08-07-09, HEB-B Surface Anti-Body Negative 2. 10-10-07, HEB-B Surface Anti-Body Positive Prior HEB B Tests: Heb-B Antigen, non-reactive Heb-B Core AB. React Heb-Be Antigen, non-reactive Heb-Be Antibody, React PCR test from 2006, 22,738

Response from Dr. McGovern

You need to have more thorough testing for HBV. I would recheck your surface antigen and your PCR test for HBV DNA.
