Hiv and HCV amenia
Oct 4, 2009

I had an incident with a intravenous drug user. I've had a hiv and hcv antibody tests done at 11 months both tests negative. I got a CBC done and had low iron and Vitamin B12. I've had a liver function tests everything within range and also my cd4 tests at 11 months. I'm worried this might be Anemia because my bodies is not producing enough red blood cells because it can't handle both the infections at the same time. My doctor is really confused and I've had numerous symptoms, from chest pains to blowing my nose and blood coming out. Can my body be in Anemia because it can't produce antibodies against the infections ? Is my hiv and Hcv tests sufficent at 11 month ?

Response from Dr. McGovern

Yes you have had enough testing for both infections. I would concentrate on the causes of your iron deficiency and B12 deficiency.
